Karen Jean Carlsen went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the age of 54. The daughter of Lawrence Chris and Geraldine Virginia (Mrozek) Carlsen, Karen was born August 25, 1961 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from South Milwaukee Senior High School in 1979, Karen joined the United States Navy and honorably served her country for 16 years. She retired from the US Navy in 1995, after serving in Desert Shield/Storm. She continued her education at the University of Oklahoma, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. After OU, Karen began a career in aerospace at Boeing, where she worked as a proposal specialist for many years. In her spare time, Karen enjoyed worshipping at Southern Hills Baptist Church and other hobbies such as golfing, gardening, birdwatching, loving animals in general, but especially her cat "Cookie" and scrapbooking. Karen was an inspirational trooper with a strong will and determination to face any adversity life challenged her with. She will always be remembered for her consistency, charitable acts of service, kindness and thoughtful deeds. She always put the needs of others before her own. She will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her Parents, of Lawrence Chris & Geraldine Virginia Carlsen She is survived by her: loving brother, Larry Carlsen & his wife Joan; nieces: Amy Bananzek & Bonnie Olmezak; nephew, Matthew Carlsen; great niece & nephews Abby & Anthony Bananzek, Sam & Noah Olmezak; many other loving family & friends.
