Obituary

Kathryn Beth "Russell" Murdock left this Earth to join her heavenly father the morning of June 6th, 2009. Beth, as friends and family knew her, was born to Kate and Roy Russell of Lindsay, Oklahoma on May 10th, 1935. She graduated from McLoud high school in 1953 where she was both Annual Queen and Homecoming-basketball Queen. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma (formerly Central State). Prior to that, she began college at East Central in Ada, Ok and in her words "the best thing that happened at East Central was meeting a polite good looking man named Gary Murdock." Beth and Gary were happily married on May 27th, 1955.
A beloved wife, mother, granny, sister and aunt, Beth was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and her greatest joy in life came through God, family, friends and helping others. A passion for children led her to teach school for 27 years in Mannford and Lakehoma (Mustang) elementary and middle schools, receiving numerous honors including teacher of the year. She continued to help children, families and individuals in need throughout her life and through her last days. She always had a love for basketball, playing in high school, and was an avid fan and supporter of Oklahoma women's basketball.
She is survived by her husband Gary, sons Kelly (Lori) of Tecumseh Oklahoma, Kerry (Joy) of Grand Junction Colorado; daughter Kim Zepeda of Grand Junction Colorado; grandsons Jake Murdock, Chance Turner, Jarret Zepeda, Nic Murdock, Dakota Murdock, Andrew Murdock, Joshua Murdock; and granddaughters Jasmine Hill and Sydnee Montgomery; sisters Gayle Johns (Bobby), Ann Tugman (Coy); brother Lynn Russell and large extended family. Services celebrating Beth's life will be held at the North MacArthur Church of Christ in Oklahoma City at 10am. Family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Beth's honor to Christian Service Center c/o North MacArthur Church of Christ.
