Dr. Kautilya "Ka" Ashwin Mehta passed away on April 4, 2015. He was a respected physician, a community cornerstone, a loving husband and father, and a proud grandfather. Having grown up in Bhavnagar, India, he graduated KEM Medical School in Mumbai and trained as a Pediatric Surgeon. In 1974, he came to America and completed a residency in surgery and a fellowship in vascular surgery. Having relocated to Oklahoma in 1980, he grew into one of the most respected physicians locally. He served as Chief of Surgery at St. Anthony Hospital. Most recently, he served as President of the Oklahoma State Medical Association. Despite working countless hours saving lives, he always had time to help friends and strangers alike through community involvement. Most importantly, he was the most loving father who always made time for his two sons, whom he saw grow into respected physicians in their own right. In the last 5 years, he got the "cherry on top" of an amazing life by getting to meet his four grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dr. Sulabha Mehta; his sons, Aneesh and Amit; his daughter-in-laws, Christina and Therese; his grandchildren, Cameron, Leela, Sonali, and Elliot; brother, Dinesh and sister-in-law, Susanne; and many loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Saint Anthony Hospital Foundation, 601 NW 11th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73106. http://www.givetosaints.com/give
