Obituary

Keith Paul Shingleton was born on March 5, 1952, in Oklahoma City, the second child of Bill R. and JoAnne Shingleton. He entered the arms of his Heavenly Father on October 28, 2025, relieved from the suffering of heart disease.

Keith grew up surrounded by family, faith, and music. He was a member of Exchange Avenue Baptist Church, where he received Christ as a child. His faith deepened through his time at Falls Creek Church Camp and countless adventures traveling across the country on his dad's legendary Youth Choir trips. He also shared plenty of mischief and laughter with his older brother Mike and close friends from "The Birthday Club," a second family that included his parents' lifelong friends.

A proud graduate of Capitol Hill High School, Class of 1970, Keith played both basketball and football and maintained friendships with many of his classmates throughout his life. He later attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Central State University.

In 1973, Keith met the love of his life, Linda Kay Evans, and together they built a marriage that lasted 48 wonderful years. They were blessed with three children: Bryan Keith Shingleton, Simon Bryce Shingleton, and Carolyn Elaine Shingleton.

During college, Keith worked the night shift at Rainbow Bakery as a single dad, balancing hard work and fatherhood with quiet determination. In 1973, he joined his parents in opening Shingleton's Appliance Center, which they operated together until 1986. He then transitioned into the automotive industry, working many years for the Eskridge Family in various roles — from opening an auto auction to bringing the Indian Motorcycle franchise to Oklahoma. Later, he fulfilled a lifelong dream at the House of Kawasaki, where he sold and rode motorcycles for a living. There, he founded a beloved weekly dinner ride group, creating lasting friendships with riders who all found a warm welcome.

Keith loved people deeply. He always had a joke, a smile, and a way of making everyone feel at ease. Even while managing health challenges, he maintained a positive outlook — visiting his doctors with a fresh batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies and a new joke to brighten their day.

His love for motorcycles began early, riding his first dirt bike for hours around the Sears parking lot before he was even old enough for a permit. Anything with wheels drew his fascination — sprint cars, midgets, flat track, dirt track — and he spent many weekends traveling across the Midwest to watch races with lifelong friends. He also cherished time in nature, taking long rides simply to find a beautiful view, a golden sunset, or a quiet stretch of open road.

In later years, Keith and Linda opened their home to more than 40 international students, offering them family, faith, and friendship while they studied English. Many lovingly called him "Dad," a title he wore proudly.

Becoming a grandparent was one of Keith's greatest joys. He adored his grandchildren and loved every opportunity to spoil them. Whether attending games, sneaking them treats, or serving as a dutiful skateboarding attendant, he made every moment count. He introduced his grandsons to golf — a shared passion that continues — and never missed a chance to support his granddaughters at their softball and basketball games, often with a little shopping money in hand.

Keith will be remembered for his laughter, generosity, and the joy he brought into every room. His legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to shine brightly through his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Keith's family requests you consider making a donation to Hope Fellowship Church (this is the church where Keith's brother Kent is pastor) toward their current expansion project. https://hope615.churchcenter.com/giving/to/hope-for-the-house
