Obituary

Kenneth Charles Leonard, age 87, was born in Texola, Oklahoma on July 23, 1937 to Virgil & Ruth Edna (Sibley) Leonard.

Ken entered Heavens Gates on October 7, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Ken graduated from Erick High School in 1955. In 1956, Ken moved to Bethany, Oklahoma to further his education at Bethany Nazarene College. During the summer of 1957, his father unexpectedly passed away and he returned home to care for his mother and siblings. Eventually Ken was able to return to the Oklahoma City area where he began his career with Collins, Dietz, and Morris Co., later Ben E. Keith Foods, until retirement in 2004.

In 1960, Ken enlisted in the United States Air Force and later married the love of his life Deloris Hunt, on August 20th in Biloxi, Mississippi. In 1964, after honorably serving his country, Ken was discharged and together he and Deloris established their home in Oklahoma City.

Kenneth was a true family man, always dedicating time to his family. He was an active member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene for more than 60 years and was involved in almost every single area of the church. Ken thoroughly loved working with people, furthering his education, teaching, training, and leading others in the work of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

After retirement, Ken quickly took a part-time job managing the maintenance of Trinity Nazarene Church. This allowed him plenty of time to spend with his children and grandchildren!

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters: Lorene Leonard, Johny Faye Leonard and Jean Aduddell.

Ken is survived by his:

Wife of 64 years, Deloris Leonard;

Daughter, Jeanne Griffin and her husband, Doug;

Son, Steve Leonard and his wife, Robin;

Spiritually adopted son, Don Retter and his wife, DeeDee;

Sister, Omega Williams;

7 Great Grandchildren: Brentley Retter, Bennett Retter, Ella Griffin, Chandler Cooke, Mailee Cranston, Lilah Griffin, and Selah De Jesus;

As well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ken loved all his family dearly, and they loved him, he will truly be missed, but will remain in the hearts of those left here.
