Kenneth Raymond Spencer, 81, of Oklahoma City, passed away April 22, 2010. He was born September 6, 1928 in Oklahoma City. He was raised at the Baptist Childrens Home, and attended Webster Jr. High, and later graduated from Central High School. After graduation he joined the US Navy and served two years in occupied Japan. While in the Navy he attended F.A.A. School. He was assigned to Alaska, where he raised his family. With the F.A.A. he worked in Alaska, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, before settling in Ardmore, OK and eventually Oklahoma City. Kenneth was diagnosed with Parkinson disease, and was able to remain active as well as an avid golfer for 26 years. In 1999 he received Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery that further helped with the effects of Parkinson and allowed him to remain active until 2009. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Spencer; his sons Michael M. Spencer & wife, Dana, of Houston, TX, Ron R. Spencer, and wife Nancy, of Dallas, TX, his daughter Cheryl Meyer and husband John of San Francisco, CA, grandchildren Melissa, Lauren, Philip, Tiffany, and Spencer, step-children Kaysie Sulastri, and Kellie Dixson and husband Jim, and step-grandchildren Yani, Mike, Chandra, Dru, John, and Emily, his brother William Ralph Spencer of Cincinnati, OH. Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 24, at Vondel Smith Mortuary North Colonial Chapel.
