Kent Douglas Dillin, 73, died at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma on December 1, 2024. He was born to Arthur and Doris Dillin in Pearl River, New York, on March 21, 1951.
Kent married Carol Carmel Vinci on May 1, 1971. Together, they welcomed three children, Susan Mary, Kent James, and Amanda Jolene. Later, they adopted two children, Summer and Elizabeth.
A lifelong problem solver, as a child Kent took apart TVs for fun, and he kept boxes of capacitors and resisters he collected. As an adult, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Devry Institute in Columbus, Ohio in 1972. He went on to work as an electrical engineer for most of his career. Most recently, he worked at the Federal Aviation Administration and retired in June 2024.
Outside of work, Kent enjoyed golfing and bowling, and in his younger years, he was an avid water skier and race car mechanic. He and his brother raced a 1966 Mustang. Later, Kent and his son spent time together working on cars, rebuilding a 1975 Pontiac Firebird.
Kent was a Christian and attended various churches throughout his life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He frequently had a big smile when he was with his children and grandchildren.
Kent was preceded in death by his mother, Doris and his father, Arthur. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; his daughter Susan Farmer and her husband Mike, Washington, Missouri; son Kent Dillin and his wife, Rachel, Stillwater, OK; daughter Amanda Orcutt and her husband Chris, Edmond Oklahoma; daughter Summer Dillin; and daughter Elizabeth Dillin of the home; nine grandchildren, Kelsey Barron and her husband Kenton, Ashlynn Potter and her husband Caleb, Dawson Edelman and his wife Emily, Cailin Hofstetter and her husband Drew, Joshua, Addyson, Audrey, Dylan, and Logan, two step-grandchildren Melea and Morganne, and seven great-grandchildren Acen, Elliana, Annalynn, William, Elijah, Kori, Saylah with two more on the way; his sister Donna Nielsen, Ithaca, New York; his brother James Dillin, Campbell Hall, New York; along with many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
There will be a remembrance ceremony on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 5:00 pm at 1216 Territories Dr, Edmond, OK 73034.
