Obituary

Lana Renée Rubin, loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, great-granddaughter, and friend, went home to Heaven at the age of 19 on June 26, 2023, when God needed her back.

She was predeceased by her great-grandpa Maddox, great-grandma Bones, and Aunt Yvette. Lana was born on April 10, 2004, to Ashley (Maddox) Wigington in West Palm Beach, Florida. She enjoyed meeting new people in different places with her mom as they lived in West Palm Beach, Durant, El Paso, El Dorado, and Oklahoma City and traveled to New York City and Mexico. Lana attended Edmond Memorial and Penn Foster High Schools and earned both her high school diploma and a certificate in Culinary Arts. She was working on starting an Etsy shop to sell her handmade jewelry.

Lana is survived by her mother Ashley Wigington (Dustin), brother Chase Burns, grandparents Dale and Debbie Maddox, uncle Jojo, great-grandmother Anna Maddox, step-sisters Taylor and Ashley Dayton Wigington, best-friend Avery Flaming, and many other beloved family and friends.

She was more than her numerous known and unknown medical conditions as she was a talented artist, chef, comedian, photographer, actress, singer, and writer. In addition to handmade jewelry, Lana painted, sculpted, and sketched countless pictures and creations. Lana always ensured her grandpa was well-fed by making him delicious meals such as shrimp scampi, fried rice, spaghetti, and other distinctly unique dishes that would rival professional chefs but also had no problem beating him at Man vs. Food. She made people laugh with her comedy routines and acting abilities in plays such as A Christmas Carol and Shrek. As a photographer Lana captured the best moments from breathtaking sunsets to embarrassing and hilarious pictures of others. Lana could also sing beautifully like her mom. She enjoyed caring for babies, especially her favorite Ashton. Lana was also a wonderful doggy mom to Nugget and Toby James.

Lana treasured all her time with her mom especially looking like twins, shopping for clothes, trying new restaurants, and watching TV shows and TikToks but also had great satisfaction when she knocked her mom in Aggravation. She also enjoyed swimming, playing video games and watching anime with her brother. Lana had fun hanging out with Taylor and Maddie and making slime with Ashley Dayton. She loved giving her grandma manicures and going grocery shopping with her. Almost every night Lana shooed away the bed bugs with her great-grandma. Lana enjoyed trying all different international foods and talking about boys with Avery.

Lana was one of the few people who not only was a shining light, inspiration, and positive influence in life but continues that legacy and impact after passing on to Heaven and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life at Vondel Smith Mortuary will be held on Friday, July 7, at 2 p.m.
