Obituary

Larry Dale Gramling, 66, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at home with his family present after a long battle with cancer. Larry was born on September 2, 1944 in Altus, Oklahoma to his parents G.W. and Olive Gramling. At the age of 3, his family moved to Oklahoma City from Duke, Oklahoma. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1962 and from Central State University in 1974. He joined the US Marine Corps in October 1963 serving his last 13 months in Chu Lai, Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in December 1967. He joined the Oklahoma City Police Department in April 1968 rising to the rank of Major over Santa Fe and Will Rogers Briefing Stations, and other divisions at Police Headquarters; retiring in 1997. After his retirement, he worked for Reno Air in Oklahoma City and the last ten years for FEMA.
He was preceded in death by:
• His parents, G.W. and Olive Gramling;
• Sister, Wilma Flatt;
• And brother, Leo Gramling.
He is survived by:
• His wife of 42 years, Katrina;
• Daughter, Karen Doyle and husband Chris of Oklahoma City;
• Son, Kevin Gramling and wife Stacy of Oklahoma City;
• Son, Reverend Scott Gramling and wife Laura;
• Granddaughter, Hayden;
• Grandsons, Holden and Hudson of Duke, Oklahoma;
• Brother, Lloyd Gramling and wife Pat;
• Sister-in-law, Ramona Gramling;
• Brother-in-law, Donnie Flatt, all of Newcastle, Oklahoma;
• And many other nephews, nieces and cousins whom he dearly loved.
