Obituary

EPPERSON, L.C. "Bud", 90, with his family gathered around his bedside, was called to reside in his Heavenly home on April 11, 2009. He was born March 17, 1919 in Petersburg, VA to William James & Lizzie Epperson. Bud faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army for 3 years during WWII and was honorably discharged and then after our nation came under attack on American soil at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, Bud felt a strong conviction of duty to continue his service for his country and voluntarily reenlisted in the U. S. Navy on Dec. 8, 1941and faithfully served until the end of the war. After his military service, Bud finished his schooling and received a business degree before going to work at Tinker AFB. He worked as a logistics officer until his retirement in Dec. of 1978. Bud met Barbara Curry in 1952 while working at Tinker AFB. They were happily married for 55 years. Like Christ, Bud cherished and cared for Barbara, his faithful bride. In his spare time, Bud enjoyed his family, friends, golfing, watching OU Football, and their dog Sadie. A man of great character and faith, Bud was hardworking and honorable man who positively influenced the lives of all he encountered. He dedicated his life to his country, family and above all his Lord & Savior. Bud and Barbara worshipped at Crossing Community Church. A loving husband, devoted father and doting grandfather, Bud will be deeply missed by all who knew & loved him. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Arleta and son, Larry; 2 sisters, Marie Elizabeth Compton & Gertrude Epperson; and brother, Edward Epperson. Bud leaves cherished memories with his wife, Barbara Marie Epperson; sons: Greg Epperson & wife Lynette and Doug Epperson & fiancé, Cheryl; Daughter, Buddye Karol Hayes & husband, Don; grandchildren: J.D., Josh, Sara Epperson, Whitney Eller, Amy Hayes-Frazier & Angela Hayes-Johnson; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family & friends. Friends may call for viewing from 4-8 PM today with the family receiving visitors from 6-8 PM. Memorials may be made to building fund at Crossing's Community Church, 14600 N. Portland Ave., OKC, OK 73134. Services to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Vondel Smith & Son Mortuary's North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N. Mac Arthur Blvd. in OKC.
