IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence Elmer
Schneiter
February 1, 1948 – December 23, 2025
L.E. Schneiter III was born to Helen and Lawrence E. Schneiter Jr. in Shawnee, OK on February 1, 1948. He was called home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2025.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Whitford Schneiter. He and Marsha were married on June 23, 1972. L.E. promised Marsha's father, George, that he would spend the rest of his life taking care of Marsha after they eloped without family present. He made good on that promise taking care of her all the remaining days of his life - 53 years.
He is also survived by sons, Lawrence E Schneiter IV "Lance" and wife Katie of Okarche, OK; Trent Whitford Schneiter and wife Jennifer of Austin, TX; granddaughter Mackenzie Jean Schneiter; grandson Lawrence E Schneiter V "Quinn"; brother Mark Schneiter and wife Pam of Shawnee and sister Lauri Parker of Annapolis, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents L.E. Schneiter Jr. and Helen McBroom Schneiter.
L.E. worked in the Coca-Cola business his whole working life. The business was started by his great grandfather in 1902 and it continued until 1999. He later became a part-time daycare provider for his granddaughter Mackenzie and later his grandson Quinn.
L.E. was recognized many times as a businessman and community leader throughout his life including being named Shawnee's citizen of the year in 1980, chairman of Old Santa Fe Days, and President of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a church youth leader and on countless non-profit and business boards over the years.
L.E. was well known for his athletic achievements. He participated in the state finals in the 100-yard dash his junior year in high school and finished third in the shot put his senior year. He held the Shawnee shot put record for over 40 years. He also played and excelled in basketball, baseball, football and golf. He played football at Oklahoma State University for one year before injuring his shoulder. He was a scratch golfer for most of his life and loved playing with his friends. Over all those years and thousands of rounds, he had one hole in one and it was one of the few rounds he played with both his sons.
Of course, if you knew L.E., you knew two things. He loved life and his family. He was at his best joking with his friends and family. He lived quite a life; traveling all over the world, spending countless days dragging his kids, grandkids and their friends across Lake Texoma where he was an expert wave maker (creating the toilet bowl maneuver), skiing with family and friends, and he was a licensed pilot when he was younger.
Many know he almost passed 29 years ago and was not given a great prognosis. He utilized his "bonus" years well spending time with family, volunteering with his church including a mission trip to Honduras, and, of course, golfing. It is impossible to sum up the life of a man who meant so much to so many. He will be deeply missed for now but we will see him again.
