Lenora Elizabeth Middleton Kasbaum was born on October 26, 1923 to Sarah Maybelle Applegate and Delma Wesley Middleton in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She was blessed to be born to two of the most wonderful people in the world. Two years later she was joined by her beloved baby brother, Wesley Earl. Times were hard in the depression and what the family may have lacked in material riches was eclipsed by their bountiful love for one another.
Her early years were spent in many towns in Oklahoma before her family settled in Moore, Oklahoma where she enjoyed her many school friends, played the bass drum in the Moore High School band and the flugle horn in the Kiltie Band. In high school, she met the one true love of her life, Louis Albert Kasbaum, Jr. They were married following graduation from Moore High School on May 16, 1942. Louis enlisted in the Army Air Corps soon after and in March 1943 their first born, Wesley Louis, was welcomed to the family. After the war, Louis began his long career at Tinker Air Force Base. Lenora made a wonderful home for the family, taught
Sunday School, enjoyed her "laugh-alot-club" with friends, and became known for her fabulous
cooking, especially her banana nut cake. In 1950 their daughter, Pamela Sue, was born and in 1953 Gregory Lynn was born. Lenora was the best mother in the world. She sewed like a pro from sketches she made of department store dresses, cooked meals for the needy, taught Sunday School, and even raised chickens and sold eggs so her children could have music lessons and many other extras. Together Louis and Lenora sacrificed and strived to provide a loving Christian home, college educations and every advantage in life for their children. In 1959 Lenora went to work for the Moore School District in the cafeteria. The school system grew from 3 schools to 18 in a short period of time and Lenora grew with them. She rose to the position of manager and dietician to eventually become the head administrator of the entire district's cafeteria system while being a loving and attentive wife and mother. Louis and Lenora retired in the late '70s, began traveling in their RV and Lenora became an accomplished artist. They showered love, support and attention on their 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. They were always there for the special events in their lives. Most importantly Lenora loved Christ and the Moore Central Church of Christ where Louis is an elder. She tirelessly taught, supported, cooked and cared for many generations in the Church. Her love, sacrifices and care for others is a testament to her faith.
