Obituary

Lilian Newton, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on 8/15/25 at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in 1937 in England, Lilian grew up during the hardships of World War II, experiencing firsthand the courage and resilience of her generation as a child during the London bombings. She attended the Kilburn School for Gifted Children, where her natural creativity and talents flourished. Among her many gifts, Lilian mastered the art of fine needlework, even contributing to the creation of garments for the Queen of England.

Lilian immigrated to the United States with her husband, Gerald Newton and firstborn son Steve and together they built a life and family in Oklahoma City. She embraced her new home wholeheartedly, cherishing the warmth of community, wide-open spaces, sunshine, and most especially, being surrounded by her children, Steve, Donnie and Linda, her sister Jean and family as well as other beloved extended family.

A woman of grace, strength, and kindness, Lilian loved the seaside, beautiful gardens, flowers of all kinds especially roses and lilies, which became a symbol of her beauty and gentle spirit. She enjoyed sharing stories of her English childhood, while also celebrating her life in Oklahoma with the family she raised here.

She is survived by her children: Linda Newton and Marcello, Donnie and wife Donna Newton, (their four children David, Heather, Daniel and Jessica and 6 great grandchildren Samarah, Jaylenn, Cameron, Aiden, Colby and Caleb) her sister Jean Ellzey, nieces and nephews Jimmy, Bobby, Karen and Trish, Debbie, Shirley, Don, Steve Molloy, Rhonda, Cindy, Shannon, Greg Newton, daughter in law Karen, grandchildren Leila and Steven Newton and numerous extended family, and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

She was preceded in death by her mum, dad, brothers Bill and Don Molloy, husband Gerald, son Steve and other beloved family members near and far.

A memorial service celebrating Lilian's life will be held on September 13, 2025, at Vondel L. Smith "South Lakes" 4000 S.W. 119th, OKC from 1:00 – 3:00. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share memories in her honor.
