Linda Clarice Church was called to glory on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the age of 82. The daughter of Nettie Doris (Day) and Lloyd Adolphus Jordan, Linda was born on July 8, 1941 in Tyler, Texas. Linda fell in love with a handsome young man who had a heart for serving God and others by the name of Jerry Rolan Church, fondly known as "J.R." The two were united in holy matrimony on August 16, 1958 in Lubbock, Texas and made a wonderful life together for the next 52 years until J.R.'s passing in 2011. This union was blessed with a daughter, Terri and a son, Jerry, Jr. Together, Linda and J.R. and their kids made a wonderful life together by dedicating their hearts and lives to serving the Lord, the church as well as investing in people and communities through their ministry for over 50 years. For nearly 18 years, Linda and J.R. pastored the Western Hills Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas and were also instrumental in founding the Christian school, Western Hills Baptist Academy in Lubbock, Texas before moving to Oklahoma City in 1979. While serving in Oklahoma City, the Church family attended First Southern Baptist of Del City Church and started a television ministry that diligently pursued the outreach of spreading God's word and love to folks all over the world called "Prophecy In The News." It was an evangelistic ministry that positively influenced and touched countless lives throughout the course of their lives until J.R.'s health declined. Linda worked alongside her husband working as his office assistant and fulling any need her husband, her kids or the church and community needed. Linda enjoyed travelling with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren. Linda was known for her exceptionally good cooking and her fondness in collecting cooking books. She always had an open heart, generous nature, thoughtful consideration and gentle spirit that exemplified the vastness of God's unconditional love for his people. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman who personified that kind of loving and supportive wife, devoted and caring mother, loyal and true friend and faithful servant that calls women to be in the scriptures. Although Linda's presence on earth will be deeply missed each day, we rejoice in knowing she has received her eternal glory in heaven and reunited with her beloved husband, J.R. for eternity.
