IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Sue
Hudson
March 28, 1948 – August 17, 2024
Linda Sue Hudson, 76, with her husband Tommy by her side, departed this life and entered Heaven's gates on August 17, 2024.
Linda was born in Oklahoma City on March 28, 1948 to Arthur Bruce and Laura "Pat" Virginia (Cronk) Delay.
Linda was raised in Oklahoma City attending elementary school at Fillmore Elementary School and later graduating from U. S. Grant High School Class of 1966.
Following graduation, she moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma to begin her college studies at Southwestern State College. While there, she was on the Volleyball and Basketball teams, was a cheerleader, and also worked at the Bulldog Drive-In when time would allow.
Linda moved back to Oklahoma City in 1968. In December of 1969, she met the love of her life, Tommy Hudson. They were married on August 18, 1973, with her passing just one day before celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary.
During her multi-faceted career, Linda began working for Lindy's Dress Shop, where she gained experience in multiple aspects of the business and enjoyed success in the retail clothing business. After that time, Linda pursued a different career working as a barber, hairstylist and nail technician.
Linda first began work at the Habana Barber and Beauty Shop, where she gained notoriety and was sought after for her talent and expertise. This led to her becoming the first employee of Duncan Brothers Salon, where she enjoyed a long career before joining the Phil Logsdon Hair Salon.
After leaving the personal care and beauty business, Linda began work with S.C.I. which was officed out of Bill Merritt Funeral Service in Yukon. For S.C.I., Linda excelled in sales representing burial policies for the company. Her professionalism and attention to customer care captured the attention of the owner and this led to her becoming an Advance Planning Counselor. Sometime later, Linda departed the funeral service business. She then began working with several local chemical companies.
Due to multiple health challenges in 2019, Linda retired and left the chemical business after being employed by Bio Tech Services in Oklahoma City.
Linda lived life to the fullest, and was blessed with so many wonderful long-lasting friendships over the years. She loved music and faithfully followed a band whose former members were Steve Crossley and Jerry Wilson. Above all she was totally devoted to her husband, Tommy. They both loved the "Lake Life" especially with her excelling as an excellent water skier and as well as enjoying the freedom of Jet Skiing. She and her husband spent countless hours enjoying the peacefulness and tranquility at their retreat at Lake Murray.
Linda will be remembered for her extreme kindness to those whose lives were fortunate enough to intersect with hers. She was known for her unswerving commitment and loyalty to her family, her friends and her customers alike. Linda was a force of nature in the kitchen and a fierce protector of every stray animal people had a tendency to drop at her doorstep…again she was known to be soft-hearted that way, and had her veterinarian on speed dial to fix whatever needed fixing.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; Arthur Bruce and Laura Delay and her brother, Curtis Delay.
She is survived by her loving and attentive husband, Tommy, and her Yorkie Harley and Cat Kiki; and such dear friends who have supported both her and Tommy during the many years of her battle against cancer. "Thank you" falls short of expressing Tommy's heartfelt appreciation for the many gestures of kindness sent their way, for which he feels grateful and blessed.
A special thanks to Dr. Kathleen Moore (of the Stephenson Cancer Center), as well as all the doctors and nurses who attended to Linda during her long battle with cancer, and made her final days as comfortable and peaceful as humanly possible.
