Linda Janette Newsom

Linda Janette Newsom was born on December 26, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to her parents, Billie Jo (Slay) and Robert Warren Matherly. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the age of 71. Linda grew up attending OKC Public Schools and graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1971. Linda married Gary Lee Newsom and they lived a happy life together, until his passing on June1, 2009. Linda dedicated her life to being a loving wife, devoted mother and a wonderful grandmother. Her family was the center of her life. When Linda wasn't working, she thoroughly loved being outdoors, working in her garden and decorating, but most of all, spending time with her precious grandchildren, children and family, who she loved with all of her heart. Linda was truly a light in this dark world.

She was preceded in death by her:

Parents, Robert & Billie Jo Matherly;

Brother, Mike Matherly;

Beloved Husband, Gary Lee Newsom.

She leaves behind her loving family:

Daughter ~ Nicole Arrington and her husband, Jared;

Son ~ Scott Thompson and his wife, Laurie;

Granddaughter ~ Gaby Arrington;

Grandson ~ Brooks Arrington;

Step-Granddaughter ~ Peyton Goodin;

Step-Granddaughter ~ Kylie Edmonds;

Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law ~ Don and Donna Newsom;

Several other extended family and many dear friends.

A memorial service to celebrate and honor her life will be held 1:00 PM Friday, December 6, 2024 at the South Lakes Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 4000 SW 119th St. Friends may leave condolences for the family at www.vondelsmithmotuary.com
