IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Sue Faulkenberry
Shadid
October 21, 1956 – December 10, 2021
Linda Sue Shadid was born October 21, 1956 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Robert Lee and Betty June Faulkenberry. She went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2021.
Linda grew up in Oklahoma City graduating from Northwest Classen High School in 1975. Linda married the love of her life, Stanley K. Shadid, on August 25, 1979. They made their home in Oklahoma City where they raised their children, Christopher and Linley, and became active members of Shartel Church of God and, later, Crossings Community Church.
Linda worked in the retail business for many years including John A. Brown department store, Rothchild's, Madison's and From Heaven to Seven. She also owned and operated The Baby's Closet children's clothing store with Stanley.
Linda met Stanley at John A. Brown. Stanley knew she was "the One" from first sight. They began a four-year romance and continued with a wonderful marriage of 42 years.
Following her many years in the retail business, Linda enjoyed a 24-year career in the finance business, working at Oneok and Communications Federal Credit Union. Linda's co-workers knew her as compassionate, and the person with a continuous smile and kind words.
Linda's strong Christian faith and her family were the sources of her strength and the foundations of her ever-happy spirit. She had the voice of an angel, serving many years in the choir at Crossings Community Church. Linda lived a daily walk with Jesus and displayed every "Fruit of the Spirit," visible to everyone she encountered: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control.
Linda spent every available moment with her kids and grandkids: At family gatherings, ballgames, musical events, dance recitals and so much more. She was a sports lover and avid OU football fan. She adored her pets, Lucy and Rosie, and enjoyed her evening walks with Stan and the pups. She was a wonderful baker, known for her chocolate chip cookies. There is nowhere she would rather have been than around her dining room table enjoying time with her family.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Faulkenberry and her sister, Nancy Everheart. She is survived by her husband, Stanley; her son, Stanley Christopher Shadid, M.D., and his wife Katy; her daughter, Linley Bergeron and her husband Cameron; her grandchildren, Micah, Noelle and Layla Shadid, and Norah Bergeron. Linda is also survived by her father, Bo Faulkenberry, her sister, Robbie Smith, and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Kelly (Vicky) Shadid.
