Loretta Jean Gragg devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed from this life to her heavenly home on December 26, 2015 in Oklahoma City. She was born to Cecil and Amy Smith on January 19, 1932. She attended Robert E. Lee Elementary; Capitol Hill Junior High; and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1949. She was married on February 12, 1949 to her High School sweetheart, Joe Gragg. They made a home in South Oklahoma City where they raised their 3 children and shared 66 wonderful years together. She was a member of Saint James Catholic Church where she attended Mass.
Mom was so proud of her Capitol Hill roots and all of the friends she went to school with. She loved attending Class Reunions, and spending time with her childhood best friend, Claudine Fatherree. Through the years, they shared many fun-loving adventures together.
After staying home to raise her children, she embarked on her working career in 1964 with Kelly Girls temporary staffing services, which led to a full time secretarial position with Swan Siegler Company. In 1968 she accepted a position with The Ninety-Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots founded by Amelia Earhart based at Will Rogers World Airport Terminal. She was later named the Executive Director of the Ninety-Nines and oversaw the construction of their current International Headquarters Facility which is located on Amelia Earhart Road just north of the Airport Terminal. During her 30 year career with the Ninety-Nines she diligently worked to develop the Ninety-Nines Museum of Women Pilots located on the second floor of the International Headquarters. She retired from the Ninety-Nines in 1998 after a long and productive career.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hermie & Callie Johnson, and Willie & Myrtle Smith; parents, Cecil & Amy Smith; brother, James Smith; and great grandchild, Lottie Caroline. She is survived by her husband Joe R. Gragg; sons Steve Gragg (OKC), Rob Gragg & wife Kathy (Norman) and daughter Elizabeth Chapman & husband Jack (OKC); grandchildren Nathan Gragg, Callie Honeycutt, Angela Christian, and Caroline Higgins; great grandchildren Ashton, Weston, Triston, Rivers; and many nieces and nephews.
