Obituary

Lou Ella (Rother ) Revel, of Oklahoma City went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, at the age of 101. She passed peacefully after her children had said their last goodbyes.

Lou was born on July 10, 1922 in Flat Lick, Kentucky to George Rother and Dewey (Stacey) Rother. She was raised in Kentucky and Oklahoma. When she was 13, her family which included 4 brothers and 3 sisters returned to Oklahoma where they remained. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1942 where she excelled in academics and sports. She was the Salutatorian of her graduating class, and the first female at Sterling to letter in basketball. She worked picking cotton to buy her letter jacket, which she returned to Sterling HS in 2019 at the age of 98.

She married the love of her life, Milton "Rex" Revel on December 18, 1941 in Rush Springs. After they married, Lou and Rex lived in California, Sterling, Ok and later El Reno. Lou and Rex moved to Oklahoma City in 1962 and made OKC their permanent home. Lou attended Sooner State Beauty College and became a beautician. In 1962 she opened Vontres Beauty Salon in southwest Oklahoma City. She retired in 1984, but continued her career at her home until she was 92 years young!

Lou and Rex were longtime members at Selecman United Methodist Church. In her spare time Lou enjoyed spending time with her family, supporting her church, gardening, and painting. Lou will always be remembered for her Sunday family dinners and holiday gatherings, her flower and vegetable gardening, her famous State Fair award winning cinnamon rolls, and being a loving and supportive mother and Nana.

Lou was preceded in death by her loving

Husband, Milton "Rex" Revel;

Infant son, Charles Don Revel;

Parents, George and Dewey (Stacey) Rother Deeds;

Brothers: Edward Rother, BJ Rother, Vontres "Teet" Rother, Junior Rother, Jimmy Rother, and George Rother

Sisters: Evelyn Bridges, Helen Townsend, and June Schoemann-Lamb.

She leaves cherished memories with her

Daughter, Joni Johnson;

10 Grandchildren;

21 Great Grandchildren
