Obituary

Louise Frances "Diamond Lou" Fink (née Cathel), 81, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on September 15, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, Louise lived a life defined by dedication, compassion, and service to others.

Louise’s professional career was a testament to her unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of children. Beginning as a school bus driver in Volusia County, Florida, she upheld the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Her dedication and expertise led her to the role of Safety Officer for the county school system. Later in her career, she found her true calling in transporting special needs children, a role she embraced with boundless patience and care. Louise’s extraordinary dedication earned her national recognition when the National Safety Council honored her as the first transportation driver in the nation to complete 34 years of driving without a single incident. Her legacy is one of service, safety, and an enduring commitment to protecting children.

Louise was a kind and gentle soul. Outside of her career, Louise was a woman of many passions. She loved to travel and was especially captivated by her two trips to Alaska, where she marveled at the wildlife and natural beauty. These journeys left her with thousands of photographs and countless cherished memories. Known for her selflessness, Louise often put others before herself through thoughtful gestures such as handmade crafts or jewelry, and by always being ready to lend a helping hand. Food was her love language, and she generously shared it with those around her. Family and friends will forever treasure the meals, treats, and moments shared around her table or at campsites.

Louise is survived by her son Kevin Ford and his wife Carmen of Oklahoma City and Stepson Tim Fink of Ormond Beach, Florida. Nephews Jeremy Barker (wife Laura) and their daughters River, Raven, Bria, and Jemma of Oklahoma City; Stepson Tim Fink of Ormond Beach, Florida Marc Gregg (wife Jenny) and their sons Benji and Ollie of Wichita, Kansas; David Gregg (wife Kay) and their children Andrew, Miranda, Chris, and Sean of Nashville, Tennessee; as well as other beloved nephews and nieces Jamie, Greg, and Chris. She is also survived by her cousin Jackie Miller of Ohio; Jackie’s grandchildren, Sarah and Anthony James; great-grandchildren Bella, Skylar, and Ivan Joseph; and the Glazier family cousins throughout Ohio and Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Fink of Daytona Beach, Florida; parents Herman and Elta Cathel of Harrisburg, Ohio; cousin Joe Cathel; and Jackie Miller’s daughter, JoLynn Cathel.

Louise’s life was a shining example of kindness, generosity, and devotion to others. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May her legacy inspire those she leaves behind to live with the same compassion and dedication that defined her remarkable life. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, 7801 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
