Nita was born on June 18, 1937 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Loyn & Effie Mae (Daniel) Marvel. She passed away peacefully at her home in Norman on June 15, 2021. Nita graduated from Anadarko High School Class of 1955. She married Leo Thurman, and to this union were born two sons Randy & Rodney Thurman. Later she married John Spillmeier, they enjoyed over 20 years together until his death. Nita always was driven to better herself and make a difference in the lives of others; she was committed to continuing her education. She accomplished this at the University of Oklahoma and later at the University of Central Oklahoma, attaining her Doctorate in Education. She began her teaching career at Midwest City and Crooked Oak High School, her focus was on Business Education. Nita then moved on to continue educating students at the college level at the University of Oklahoma and University of Central Oklahoma. Her activities after retirement were focused on spending time with her family & her close friends. She was preceded in death by her: Parents, Loyn and Effie Marvel; And husbands, Leo Thurman & John Spillmeier. She is survived by her: Son, Randy Thurman, his wife Pati and their son, Levi Thurman; Son, Rodney Thurman; One brother, Ron Marvel and his wife, Cheryl; And countless friends.
