Fern (Kidd) Bennett went home to her heavenly Father on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the age of 97. She was born December 27, 1911 in Hydro, Oklahoma to her parents, Les Monroe and Bessie Ann (Hume) Kidd. Fern worked as a cafeteria manager for the Oklahoma City Public School System. In her spare time, Fern enjoyed reading, making afghans, liked following college sports, especially the OU Sooners whom she was a big fan of, cooking �" especially making holiday candy, and was a member of the "Real People" Sunday School Class at Southwest Baptist Church.

She is survived by her:
Son, Jack E. Bennett of Moore, OK;
Daughter, Linda Harrell and her husband, Hugh;
Six Grandchildren: Terri Pinkston, Brad Bennett, Mike Bennett, Kim Smith, Kristi Davis, and Kaci Harrell;
10 Great Grandchildren: Stephanie Sharp, Bennett Turkington, Jason Bennett, Brooke Turkington, Mackenzie Smith, Madeline Bennett, Heidi Bennett, Cole Smith, Maggie Smith, and Meg Smith;
1 Great-Great Grandson, Gentry Sharp.
She will be remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all of her family, which she sincerely treasured. Granny's family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Joe and Iris Park for all they did for her.

Fern Kidd Bennett
Services for Lucy Fern Kidd Bennett, a member of one of Hydro's pioneer families, were at South Lakes Chapel in Oklahoma City on Wednesday morning, September 23. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, directed by Vondel L. Smith & Sons Mortuary.
Fern was born December 27, 1911, in Hydro, to Les Monroe and Bessie Ann Hume Kidd, on a farm six and one-half miles south of Hydro. She was delivered by Dr. J.J. Henke. She began school at Lone Star Rural School, and graduated from Hydro High School in 1931. The entire family were members of the First Christian Church of Hydro, where they traveled by horse and buggy. She was united in marriage to Earl Bennett of Colony and they had two children. Fern loved to cook, and was a Cafeteria Manager for Oklahoma Public Schools. She enjoyed making holiday candies and crocheting afghans, which found their way to many recipients. She also enjoyed reading and watching sports, especially college sports, and was an avid OU fan. She was a member of the Real People Sunday School Class at Southwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
Fern went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 19, 2009. She was preceded by her husband; six siblings, Guy Edward Kidd, Roy Walter Kidd, Ovella Kidd Ames, Arthur Perry Kidd, Virgil Clifton Kidd, and Glen Woodrow Kidd.
She is survived by her son, Jack E. Bennett; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Hugh Harrell; her grandchildren, Terri Pinkston, Brad Bennett, Mike Bennett, Kim Smith, Kristi Davis, and Kaci Harrell; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Also surviving are two sisters, Melva Metz of Comanche and and Arletta Crissman of Weatherford. Her memory will be beloved as well by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, all of whom she sincerely treasured.
