Obituary

Lyle DeVere Teel was born on February 23, 1938, in the small town of Parks, Nebraska and lived a full and meaningful life. The son of Ami Cutter Teel and Alta Mae Sampson, Lyle was called to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Lyle and his wife Barbara moved to Oklahoma City in 1958 and then to Yukon in 1960.

As the youngest of eight children, Lyle grew up surrounded by the love and wisdom of his siblings, aunts, and uncles. His family was tight-knit and his roots in Parks, Nebraska, were deep. It was there that he attended school and played basketball during his high school years. He later found great joy in returning to Nebraska, where he loved to visit, share stories and play cards with his relatives.

Professionally, Lyle built a successful career at Western Electric and its associated companies. Along the way, he earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in business management. His work ethic was unparalleled and his commitment to excellence in his career was matched only by his zest for life outside the office. Lyle was particularly fond of visiting casinos, where he chased the thrill of the game and shared his exciting experiences with friends and family. As a fan, he was fiercely loyal to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he supported his team with unwavering enthusiasm through every season.

Above all, Lyle's greatest treasure was his family. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Barbara Kay Firestone, whom he met while attending Nebraska Wesleyan University. Together, they shared fifty-seven years of marriage until her passing in 2014. Their bond formed the foundation of a loving and enduring home. Lyle was preceded in death by Barbara and by his granddaughter, Bailey Teel.

Lyle is survived by his four children: Randall Teel and his wife Ana, Scott Teel and his wife Kelly, Kerrie Teel, and Corey Teel and his wife Amie. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren—Andrew, Juliette, Jordan, Austin, Ashton, Braden, Rumer, and great-grandchildren Lauren and Lindsey Teel. All his family he cherished and was proud of them continuing the strong legacy of the Teel family name.

Lyle will be remembered for his dedication, his passion for life and the love he shared with those around him. Whether at work, at play or surrounded by family, he lived life fully and with joy. His legacy of love, devotion, and quiet strength will forever live on in the hearts of his family.
