September 12, 1922 – November 30, 2015
Margie B. Lucas was born in Otterville, Missouri on September 13, 1922 to Claude T. and Gertrude (Gross) Bryan. She died after a lengthy illness, surrounded by loving members of her family, on November 30, 2015 at Tuscany Village Nursing Center, The Village, Oklahoma.
Margie and her siblings Mary Lou Anderson (Bus), Nancy Ridenour (Charlie), Henryetta Wynne-Burleson (Wayne), Betty Scott (William) and her only brother Billy Bryan (Neva), were all raised in the Kansas City area. She graduated from East High School, where she met and later married Arthur A. Lucas. They had two children, Claudia and Steve.
Margie worked at several jobs in Kansas City during World War II while her husband was serving in the navy. After returning home from the Navy, Margie and her husband established a home in Oklahoma City, OK for many years before moving to Atlanta, GA. Margie later moved to West Memphis, AR retiring from Crittenden County Hospital before returning to Oklahoma City to be near her daughter and grandchildren.
Margie lived for over 20 years at the Louis Danforth Senior Citizen Center of OKC, where she, the staff and the many friendships she developed over the years provided her with an active and exciting life. Due to health issues, Margie had spent the last several months under the love and care of Hall 500 Nurses and Aides at Tuscany Village.
Margie, is survived by her daughter and her family, Claudia J. Hughes (Ken), her granddaughter Ginger Ashmore (Sean) and great grandson Noah. Her grandson Phillip K. Hughes (Shannon) and great grandchildren Zachary and Zoey. She is also survived by her son and his family, Steven A. Lucus (Nancy), grandson Spencer M. Lucas and great grandchildren.
