Marilyn Jo Hardin, 95, surrounded by family, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 20, 2025. She was born in Harlan County, Nebraska on January 6, 1930, as one of triplets, to her parents Leslie Lee and Hazel Marie (Camp) Hawkinson.
At a young age, Marilyn's family moved to Mission, TX where they lived for several years. Marilyn graduated from Mission High School and soon moved to Oklahoma City with her triplet sister and "Best Friend" Muriel, together they worked for Bell Telephone Company.
It was in Oklahoma City that Marilyn met the love of her life, William A Hardin Jr. and they were married on July 4, 1952. They were married for 55 years until his passing on November 16, 2007.
During her working life Marilyn was a clerk at the Mike Monroney FAA Aeronautical Book Store in Oklahoma City where she served for 15 years before retiring. Upon retirement she and husband Bill enjoyed camping in their fifth wheel for many years.
Marilyn, a faithful follower of Christ, was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and longtime member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her:
Parents, Leslie Lee and Hazel Marie Hawkinson;
Husband of 55 years, William A Hardin, Jr.;
Son, Mark Douglas Hardin and his wife Deanna Hardin
Sisters: Betty, Vera, and Muriel;
Brother, Maurice.
She is survived by her:
Son, Bill Hardin and his wife, Dayna;
Grandson, Mark Gregory Hardin and his wife, Tonya;
Grandson, Billy Dale Hardin and his wife, Jessie; Grant Hardin;
Grandson, Wes Hardin;
Granddaughter; Misty Avery and her husband, Jon;
As well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation
Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary South Lakes
2:00 - 4:00 pm
The family will be present to greet friends from 2-4 PM at the funeral home
