Marilyn Sue (Bishop) Shirley, R.D.H.

March 15, 1939 ~ April 2, 2025

Marilyn Sue Shirley entered Heaven's gates on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the age of 86. Her husband, Robert Lael Shirley, who passed away on March 3, 2025, was waiting there for her arrival to greet her.

Marilyn was born on March 15, 1939 in Chanute, Kansas to her parents, Charles and Dora Bishop. The family moved to Dewey, Oklahoma when Marilyn was only a baby. In 1948, the family moved to Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Marilyn attended Wynnewood High School where she was active with the band. She also met Robert while in high school. After graduating in 1957, Marilyn attended OCW, where she received her Associate Degree in Business in 1959.

Marilyn and Robert were united in marriage on July 15, 1961 at the First Methodist Church of Wynnewood, OK. Thereafter, Marilyn went on to Rose State College to become a Registered Dental Hygienist, while Robert continued with his private dental practice in OKC. Marilyn was proud to work alongside her husband at Dr. Shirley's dental practice as his dental hygienist and office manager for many years. They enjoyed traveling nationally and globally to attend American Dental Association meetings.

Marilyn found much enjoyment in getting the family together for fun activities, holidays and celebrations. She had immense love and adoration for animals especially her cats and she loved to talk about them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dora Bishop; her husband of 64 years, Robert Lael Shirley, her brother, Charles Bishop, Jr and her sister, Phyllis Jean Cochran.

Marilyn leaves behind her sister, Myrna Carol (Penny) Boyce, a host of nieces, nephews and friends whose lives she touched.

Marilyn was a beautiful lady who will be deeply missed.

No public viewing or visitation is planned. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
