Obituary

Marlyn Lee Dougherty, fondly known as "Mar" by his family and friends, entered Heaven's gates and received his heavenly reward on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the age of 62 years old. The son of Patrick and Lucille (Walther) Dougherty, Marlyn was born on September 22, 1963 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Marlyn grew up attending schools in Nebraska; first the small town of Hershey, Nebraska before graduating from Lincoln High School, where he played football as linebacker, lettering in the sport. While in high school, Marlyn met a beautiful young lady by the name of Vicki M. Kimbrough and the two were quite smitten with each other and became inseparable. Their love blossomed and the two were united in holy matrimony on August 3, 1984 in Hastings, Nebraska. This union was blessed with three sons, Preston, Trevor and Aaron. Later, Marlyn married Jerri D. Baker and to this union was born one son, Marlyn "Dillon" Dougherty.

In addition to being a loving husband and devoted father, Marlyn worked hard and was a dedicated provider. Marlyn was a successful entrepreneur and for many years owned and operated PaPa D Enterprises in Oklahoma City, where he worked as a truck driver as well as owning PaPa D's Fireworks. Marlyn was the backbone of his businesses and had numerous achievements throughout his career which spanned 30 years. Marlyn enjoyed making many lifelong friendships with the staff and customers.

Marlyn's family was the center of his world. Being there for his children, carpooling kids to events and practices, PTA/classroom visits, washing countless sports uniforms, etc... his children were always his first priority, always making certain their every need and want was at the forefront of his focus. Marlyn's love for his family was unwavering and unconditional, especially when it came to being "PaPa D" as his grandchildren always called him. Doting on his grandchildren was one of Marlyn's most favorite pastimes.

Marlyn was also a very gifted athlete. He especially enjoyed many hobbies such as golfing, riding motorcycles, gardening and staying busy working around his home. At an early age, Marlyn accepted the Lord into his heart and strived to live a life honoring and serving the Lord. He attended Life.Church in Moore, Oklahoma for many years and was active in the fellowship of the church. He was always willing to share his talents and skills to serve others and fill needs within the church.

Marlyn was truly a Godly man. His genuineness, generosity and servant's heart was a true testament of God's love and his love for the Lord! He loved and lived life with zest and embraced trials and victories with grace! He made the most of his moments, especially those spent with his kids and grandkids.
