IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Evelyn
Dennis
October 31, 1943 – April 3, 2025
In Loving Memory of an Angelic Soul It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Mary Dennis, a truly beautiful woman who graced our lives with her kindness, wisdom, and unconditional love. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father George and Vinita Gideon, her cherished older brother George Wayne Gideon, and her devoted husband Omar Dennis, whom she now joins in eternal rest. Their reunion in the heavens is a comfort to those she leaves behind. She is survived by her brother Royce Gideon, children, Pat Dennis and his wife Ann, Cathy Robertson and her husband William, and Scott Dennis who carry forward her legacy of compassion and strength. Her love also lives in the hearts of her four granddaughters: Amber Crosby and her husband John, Rachel Melland and her husband Paul, Bonney Burnett and her husband Josh, and Sara Overturff. In the last part of her life, she was blessed with four great-granddaughters: Laine, Quinn, Annie, and Thea and two great-grandsons: Samuel and Jeb (soon to be) all of whom had the opportunity to be touched by her gentle guidance and boundless affection. She was a beacon of light to her family and all who knew her—a woman whose grace, resilience, and warmth will be remembered and celebrated forever. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the laughter, memories, and love she cultivated so effortlessly. She was known for always having your favorite meal ready if you were visiting, ensuring there was enough for the time spent at her home and plenty left to take back (we think she did that to remind you to come see her again soon). People gravitated to her based on one core trait, she was always the better person. She never took the low road, never wished for ill will, she only wanted you to succeed at a level even you thought was unattainable. Her gift of an open heart, a warm smile, and the best Christmas cookies that have ever been baked made her a favorite of everyone who was lucky to have met her. Her family invites all who knew her to join in honoring her remarkable life, to share stories, and to celebrate the many ways in which she touched our hearts. May her angelic soul rest in eternal peace.
