Kutz
September 17, 1941 – September 20, 2024
Dr. Mary Hill Kutz was born September 17, 1941 in Ada, Oklahoma the daughter of Claude
C. and Fairy Edna (Hodge) Hill. She completed this life on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the
age of 83.
Mary was raised and graduated from high school in Ada, Oklahoma. She earned a Bachelor's,
Master's and a Doctorate degree from Central State University and Oklahoma State University
respectively. She went on to work for the Federal Aviation Administration for a number of
years where she became an active member of Oklahoma's booming aviation community. Mary
left the FAA to serve as faculty in the School of Aviation at Oklahoma State University where
she was a beloved advisor and professor.
In 1991 Mary married the love of her life, Arthur "Art" Forrest Kutz. They built a beautiful life
in Oklahoma City surrounded by children, grandchildren, great-grands, and lifelong friends.
They could be found every fall weekend celebrating Mary's beloved Oklahoma State Cowboys
with friends and family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Art, her sister, Julia "Judy" Hill, and her parents
Fairy and Claude.
Mary is survived by her step-daughters, Ann Seely and her husband Steven of Norman, OK and
Dawn Allen and her husband Ethan Allen, III of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Andrea (Sam)
Mauer, Erin Simpson, Pete (Tucker) Allen, Adam Seely, Elizabeth (Tucker) Dragoo, John
(Kristan) Simpson, Patterson Allen, and Daniel Allen; ten great-grandchildren; her dear friends,
Rhonda Foote and her husband Donald of Yukon, OK and Brenda Salgado and her husband
Eric of Tuttle,.
The family will receive friends on Monday at the Vondel Smith Mortuary North, 13125 N.
MacArthur Blvd. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 24th in The Vondel
Smith Mortuary Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma State University Foundation in honor of the Aviation
