Maurice Lee "Morrie" Shepherd was born on October 28, 1946 in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Lemmie Lee and Lillian (Bolden) Shepherd. He completed this life on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at his home at the age of 76.
Morrie was raised in Satanta, KS. His family moved to Garden City, KS, on the day that President Kennedy was assassinated, during his senior year of high school. He graduated from Garden City Junior College. It was in Garden City where Morrie met the love of his life, Sharon Kay Brungardt. They were married on November 4, 1967. Morrie and Sharon eventually moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they raised their family. They were members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and, later, St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Morrie became a real estate associate, after attending Marie Burroughs Real Estate School, in 1987. Morrie went on to earn his real estate broker license in April of 1990. After 15 years of working at different real estate organizations, Morrie opened Metro First Realty on August 1, 2005. Metro First has grown from the humble beginning of Morrie being the only associate to Metro First having seven franchises with eight locations.
Morrie was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Ann Shepherd. Morrie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon; his son, Aaron Shepherd and his wife Dawn of Loveland, CO; his daughter, Sherla Wulff and her husband Charles of Broken Arrow, OK; his sister Colleen Abby and her husband Jim of Las Vegas, NV; his brother Bobby Shepherd and his wife Andrea of Winfield, KS; his six grandchildren, Ashley Abshire, Aaron Shepherd, Jr., James Shepherd, Zachary Shepherd, Katie-Ann Guzman, and Christina Haughey; as well as his 14 great grandchildren.
Evening prayer vigil will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August 8, in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 9 at St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church, 5024 N. Grove Ave. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 7801 N.W. Expressway.
