Obituary

Spence, Mayme Ellen, 91, died on Thurs. June 18, 2009, in Austin, TX. She was born on June 12, 1918 in Antlers, OK, daughter of Thomas Kade and Pearl B. Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster B. Spence, brothers Ray, Raymond, Frank and Glenn Rogers. She is survived by her sister Helen Cartwright of Orange Vale, CA. also by her son Roger L. Spence and daughter-in-law Laura of Round Rock, TX.: grandson Zachary Kade Spence and fiancé Laura Gentry and great-granddaughter Kenna Michelle Spence, all of Round Rock, TX. Ellen is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, friends and family. Ellen grew up in Antlers, where she helped her dad with their general store and there she met Buster and married on August 9, 1941. She was employed by Sears, Roebuck & Co. for over 30 years in various positions. She loved to bowl and still enjoyed watching her family bowl as recently as May,
2009. She wouldn't miss an opportunity to play cards or dominos at any hour. She was a faithful member of Rancho Village Baptist Church and volunteered for many positions during the years. She delivered meals on wheels and worked at the voting polls diligently through the years. She also loved camping, and would eagerly pull her trailer to Blue River to meet friends and family for a camping trip. She will be missed by many who she helped and opened her home to over the years. Services to celebrate her life will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 22, 2009 at Vondel Smith South, 6934 S. Western. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or your charity of choice.
