Mike DeGiacomo passed away suddenly on Sept. 30, 2012 at the age of 62. He was born May 19, 1950 to Angelo and Minnie DeGiacomo in McAlester, OK where he graduated from St. John's High School. Mike earned his B.A. in mathematics from Oklahoma State University and served as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army from 1973-1981. He was a dedicated 27-year employee of the City of Oklahoma City, serving as the Streets Superintendent. Mike is survived by his wife Yvonne (Von); brother, Angelo; sister-in-laws, Risa Martin, Sandy Ross and Shirley DeGiacomo and his beloved nieces and nephews. His schnauzers Hans, Claus and Nikolaus, whose names reflect his love for Christmas, were his adopted children. Mike is remembered fondly by family, friends and coworkers as being smart, generous and caring. He will be greatly missed by his City family whom he referred to as his "troops." A memorial mass to celebrate Mike's life will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct 10th at Church of the Epiphany, 7336 W. Britton Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6525 N. Meridian Ave., OK City, OK 73116.
