Michael Leroy Klas (Mike) was born July 1, 1964, in Nampa, Idaho, the son of Leroy and Brenda (Slansky) Klas. Mike passed away in the arms of family on Friday, October 19, 2024, at his home in Oklahoma City. Mike courageously and tirelessly battled cancer for three and a half years.

Since 2013, Mike was a social worker for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in the Adult and Family Services, Long-term Care Division. Mike loved helping his clients and he had a special way of communicating and empathizing with them.

Mike is survived by his wife of 19 years, Pamela Koepp Russwurm, of Oklahoma City; his parents Leroy and Brenda Klas of British Columbia, Canada; his mother-in-law, Patsy Koepp, of Edmond; son Lee, of British Columbia; daughter Amy Jakupovic, husband Edin, and children Lincoln, Isla, and Alen, of Chicago, Illinois; step-son Clayton Russwurm, wife Leslie, and children Cameron, Avery, and Addyson of Lubbock, Texas; step-son Cole Russwurm and son Dean of Lubbock, Texas; and brother Matthew Klas, wife Andrea, children Luke, Jackson, and Jake, of British Columbia. Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Klas.

Mike enjoyed life to the fullest and lived with gusto; he loved to eat and share good times with family and friends. Mike loved visiting South Padre Island annually; the beach was his peaceful, happy place. Mike was an avid fan of New York Jets. Mike will always be remembered for his big heart, big laughter, and unique sense of humor. Mike touched the hearts of all who knew him, and we will continue this life carrying his love with us.

A Celebration of Life will be held in November.
