Obituary

MARCIA VOORS Miriam Marcia Smith Voors completed this life on November 23, 2020, at home in Oklahoma City surrounded by family. She was born on July 9, 1934 in Buffalo, New York to Roderic Lee Smith (Captain, Chaplain Corps, USN) and Carol Davidson Smith. She attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, IL and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, from where she obtained a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and a master's degree in education. At UNC she met and married Antonie Wouter Voors, MD, DPH. She worked as an elementary school teacher and reading specialist in Chapel Hill, NC and New Orleans, LA, then as a library associate in Metairie, LA. Following retirement, she moved to Oklahoma City and was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and a longtime volunteer with Urban Mission. She had loving friendships with her church family and neighborhood. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother Roderic Lee Smith, Jr. She is survived by daughters Carol Lee Schnabel and Adriana (Adrie) Hillegonda Voors, son-in-law Dr. James Schnabel, Adrie's partner Carl Droms, grandsons Stephen Lee Schnabel and Daniel Lucas Schnabel, three nieces Cathryn Walley, Miriam van Veen, and Miems van Veen, and nephew Dr. Roderic Lee Smith. in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Urban Mission at www.urbanmissionokc.org
