Obituary

Nancy Mitchell, 88, of Oklahoma City passed from this life on Thursday, May 28, 2026. She was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on October 11, 1937, to Daniel and Jocie Keith. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1954. After graduating from Sparks Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in 1957 she was married and worked full time as a nurse while raising a family of four.

Nancy faithfully brought up her children in the Hillcrest and Oakcrest churches of Christ. While in her forties, she proudly earned her bachelor’s degree through St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine. Then in 1986, she completed her master’s degree in business administration at Oklahoma City University. Nancy was Director of Nursing at South Community Hospital when she retired in 1994.

In 1993 she married Lloyd Mitchell, a widower and former elder in the church. They were married nearly 25 years at the time of his death in 2018. Together they faithfully served the Lord as members of the Southwest Church of Christ in such ministries as visitation, meals on wheels, teaching literacy, taking blood pressures and the sewing room. Nancy loved quilting and making needlework for those in the family. She also enjoyed playing dominoes and fellowshipping with friends from the church on a weekly basis.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Those surviving include: Her sister, Francine Crawford (Barry) of Owasso, Oklahoma; 4 Children: Ramona Wolf, Kimley Moler, both of Oklahoma City; Don Hufschmid (Pam) of Yukon, and Rebecca Thomason (Charlie) of Hewitt, Texas. Also 9 grandchildren: Justin Wolf (Ellen), Blake Wolf, Christian Moler (Sara), Carson Moler, Heather Hufschmid, Brooke Johnson, Rachel Swisher (Cody), Moriah Ross (Chase), and Christian Thomason (Gracey), and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Southwest Church of Christ or Oklahoma Christian University.
