Nancy Jane (Edwards) Reed, 79, of Norman passed away peacefully at home with her family near her side.

Nancy was born in Holdenville on January 17, 1946 to Jack and Lois (Stelter) Edwards. She was raised in California, Texas and Oklahoma. Nancy graduated from Moore High School in 1963 and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma.

In 1970 Nancy began working for the City of Moore then the Moore Police Department and that is where she met the love of her life, Richard Reed. They married in Moore on April 23, 1971 and were blessed with two children, Lisa and Kent. Nancy was a loving wife, caring mother and always made sure her family's needs were met.

Later in life after her kids were grown she worked for Macy's department store as a sales associate then human resources associate. Then Nancy went back to school and earned her Bachelors degree from UCO to become a human resources manager for Macy's. She absolutely loved her job and enjoyed her coworkers and was always willing to take on whatever tasks came her way.

In her spare time, Nancy was an avid bird watcher and was well respected by her peers in the bird watching community.  She was published in Oklahoma Ornithology Bulletin for her finding of a double deck nesting Carolina Wren and Northern Cardinal. Nancy enjoyed gardening and earned her Master Gardener certificate from the Cleveland County OSU Extension office. She planted her home garden to attract birds and people would travel to her house to see rare birds. Nancy was a long time member at Shartel Church of God and loved her church family dearly. She was involved with the Joy Aires women's group and the Barnabas Sunday School Class. Nancy's faith was very important to her and everyone that knew Nancy commended her on her strength throughout her life.

Survivors include Daughter, Lisa Reed-Larner and husband Cliff; Son, Kent Reed; Sister, Jackie Hashemi; Brother, Curtis Edwards and wife Rhodora; Two grandchildren, Jax Larner and Aiden Beam; her beloved nieces and nephews. As well as many loving extended family members, church family, and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Lois (Stelter) Edwards; husband. Richard Reed; sister in law Eula Edwards; and brother in law Jafar Hashemi.

We want to thank everyone for the loving support shown over the last 60 days. The cards, calls and food. Our mom was greatly moved by the support and was surprised by how many people loved and cared about her. We thank you.
