IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Lee
Thomas
December 15, 1949 – October 7, 2025
Nancy Lee Thomas, born December 15, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was welcomed into the gates of heaven on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the age of 75, following complications from back surgery.
Nancy attended Putnam City Schools and was a proud 1968 graduate of Putnam City High School. She spent much of her career in the oil and gas industry before finishing her working years at Dayton Tire, where she built lasting friendships.
A devoted mother, Mimi, sister, and friend, Nancy's kindness touched everyone she met. With her warm smile and spirited sense of humor, she had a way of making every gathering brighter. Her adventurous heart led her to embrace life fully. Whether with family, friends, or even complete strangers, you always knew you were loved when you were with Nancy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve; and her parents, Robert Otto Peel and Dorothy Pauline Peel, niece Erin Whisner and sisters in law Linda Thomas and Beverly Thomas
Nancy is survived by her son, Brian Thomas and wife Anastasia; daughter, Jennifer Herman and husband Kurt; grandchildren, Makenzi Thomas, Mathew Thomas, Kayten Herman, and Beckett Herman; sisters, Debbie Franklin and Sandy Ballard; brother, Robert Peel and wife Kathy; sister- and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Joe Heath; brothers-in-law, Tim Thomas and Sumner Thomas; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she considered family.
Nancy found joy in tending to her beautiful front and back yard gardens, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, traveling, sharing happy hours with friends, and making sure "Momma Kitty" was always fed and cared for—even though the cat wasn't technically hers.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Vondel L. Smith Funeral Home.
