IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Neta Marie
Brogdon
October 24, 1927 – January 25, 2025
Neta Marie Brogdon of Oklahoma City, peacefully passed from this life on the morning of January 25, 2025 at the fulfilling age of 97 years.
In her true character of taking care of others, Grandma prepared the thoughts we share with you today, and we hope the words we have added to hers convey our love for this beautiful woman.
Neta was born on October 24, 1927 to Arthur and Goldie Wayland in Pauls Valley, OK. She was a beloved wife, mother, Grandma, Great Grandma and Great-Great Grandma.
Neta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; her daughter, Ann and her sisters Shirley, MaryAnn (whom we know as Sis) and Melva Sue.
With her 3 children, Neta has 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.
A romantic at heart, teenage Neta met and fell in love with her beloved Floyd. After a brief courtship of only 2 weeks, Neta and Floyd were married on August 12, 1943. Their enduring love story lasted 75 years until her sweet soulmate passed in 2019.
During their early years together, Neta displayed the strength of an army wife while her husband was serving in World War II. She was able to travel within the states to be with Floyd until he was sent into battle in Germany. After the war, Floyd and Neta resided in Oklahoma City and remained there to share their lives together.
Their union of marriage was blessed with 2 daughters (Ann and Jan) and 1 son (Donnie). Neta spent her time raising their children, and she delighted in her role of wife, homemaker and mother.
After her children were all married, Neta went to work at the Southwest Medical Center and served there for nearly 20 years as a Food Service Supervisor, retiring in 1989.
Both Floyd and Neta were dedicated members of the church, and for over 50 years, they faithfully served at the Shields Church of Christ and South Walker Church of Christ.
Neta shared her love and compassion by preparing and serving food for funerals and other gatherings. She proudly specialized in desserts!
Neta continued in this ministry for over 25 years, and to honor her and her sharing love through food, our family now shares the recipe for Grandpa's favorite…Chocolate Pie.
