Nettie Jo Mitchell, 79, joined her Heavenly Father on Tuesday May 2, 2023. Nettie Jo was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City. She was born on May 14, 1943, to Orval Francis Mears and Genevieve (Frick) Mears. Nettie Jo grew up in South OKC and attended Lee Elementary, Capitol Hill Junior High and Capitol Hill High School, where she graduated in 1961. Nettie later attended classes at Oklahoma City University.
Nettie was married to the love of her life, James "Jim" Arthur Mitchell Jr. in 1990 in Oklahoma City and the two resided in Moore and South Oklahoma City. Jim preceded her in death in January of 2003.
Nettie worked for the City of Midwest City in in the utility billing/data processing from 1969 to 1982 when she joined Southwestern Bell. Nettie worked for a total of 18 years with Southwestern Bell before her retirement. She was an active member for over thirty years at Hillcrest Christian Church.
Nettie loved to crochet, do needle point, ceramics, scrap book and decorate cakes. Nettie was a talented individual and was very crafty. She made countless gifts, cakes for her family members and friends over the years.
Nettie will be missed deeply but her memory will live on through her loving family members.
Nettie was preceded in death by her Parents, Orval and Genevieve Mears.
She is survived by her:
Brother, Orval Freddie Mears and wife Terri of Oklahoma City;
Sister, Almeta Sue (Mears) Harris and husband Harvey of Oklahoma City;
Nephew, Mark Harris and wife Jaylynn of Oklahoma City;
Nephew, Brian Harris of Oklahoma City;
Nephew, David Harris and wife Regina of Alex Oklahoma;
Niece, Michelle Mears of El Reno, Oklahoma;
Step son, Robert Mitchell and his wife Dahrenda Mitchell of Edmond, Oklahoma;
Step daughter, J'Lynn Mitchell of Moore, Oklahoma;
4 Grandchildren: Kevin Factor, Kyle Factor, Robert Mitchell, McKae Mitchell, and three Great Grandchildren;
Precious puppies: Wally and Elle;
As well as a host of Great Nieces, Nephews, and extended family.
First Visitation
