IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norma Jean
Lambdin
April 17, 1931 – September 28, 2024
Norma Jean Jones Lambdin was born April 17, 1931 in Hooker, Oklahoma. She accomplished her earthly mission and went to be with her Lord and Savior in Oklahoma City on Saturday September 28, 2024 at the age of 93.
Norma was raised in Hooker, where her family owned and operated the local hotel. Norma's Grandparents arrived in present-day Hooker in a covered wagon. It was during this time that Norma would recall the devastation and destruction of the Dust Bowl. Norma even remembered the horrors of Black Sunday as a small child. Norma and her family lived in Colorado and Washington State before returning to Hooker. Norma was a graduate of Hooker High School. She attended Panhandle A&M College for two years and ultimately graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1952. Upon graduation, Norma was recruited to work for Judge Robert A. Hefner. Legend has it: no one in the state could take shorthand faster and more accurately than Norma. A lifelong skill that impressed and baffled her children and grandchildren. Norma was a champion of education, a love she shared with her Granddaughters. Watching her grandchildren excel in life was her pride and joy.
Norma married William Hartley Lambdin on April 30, 1955. They were married 37 years when he preceded her in death on June 21, 1992. She and Hartley made their home in Oklahoma City where Norma worked as an executive in the Oil and Gas Industry. Norma thrived in an industry that was not easy nor ladylike. It's safe to say not much scared Norma. She was 4'11 and 100 pounds on a good day and did not suffer fools lightly. She was tough but fair. She was clear eyed on right and wrong. She was our favorite person and we will miss her everyday…forever!
Norma is survived by her two sons, Lance Lambdin and his wife Szuhua of Lincoln, NE, and Layne Lambdin and his wife Danessa of Oklahoma City; her grandchildren, Olivia Scheideler and her husband Will, Shannen Lambdin, Taylor Lambdin and Allison Lambdin; and her great granddaughter, Emma Jo Scheideler.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 on Sunday at Vondel Smith Mortuary North, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, October 7th, at Resurrection Cemetery.
