Sue went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on September 6, 1934, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to James and Lona Newman. She and her family moved to South Oklahoma City in 1942. Sue graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1952.

In 1955, Sue married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Bill McCarthy. They were blessed with three children: Mick, Randy, and Pam. Sue was a devoted wife and mother, always making her family her top priority. In the 1970s, as Bill began his law practice, Sue attended courses at the University of Oklahoma to become a paralegal. She worked alongside Bill in the law office for many years. As a devoted pastor's wife, she also supported Bill's ministry in every way she could. Sue loved to entertain and host guests in their home, finding true joy in service to others. Bill served as pastor at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City for over 40 years, and together, Sue and Bill raised their family in the church, instilling deep Christian values in each of their children.

Sue's creative spirit shone through her love for painting and crafting. Her greatest joy, however, came from her family, especially her grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life. She treasured every moment spent with them, ensuring each grandchild felt uniquely cherished. Sue's infectious smile, joyful spirit, and steadfast dedication to loving and serving others will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew her.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lona Newman; her beloved husband, Bill McCarthy; her sister, Floyce Floyd; and her brothers-in-law, James Taylor and Calvin Floyd.

She is survived by her sister, Melba Taylor; her son, Mick McCarthy; her son, Randy McCarthy and his wife, Johnna; and her daughter, Pam Roberts and her husband, Greg. Sue is also survived by her grandchildren: Jade Caldwell and her husband Gavin; Jenna Anderson and her husband Ryan; Carolyn Baker and her husband Brett; James Winchester and his wife Emily; Rebecca George and her husband Stephen; Emily Rogan and her husband Zach; Katie McCarthy; and Kevin McCarthy. Additionally, she leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren: Grace, Ethan, and Levi Caldwell; Ava Anderson; Leighton and Cannyn Baker; Jase, Rylee, and Collins Winchester; and Landry and Luke Rogan.
