Oletha P.
Wietelman
Feb 22, 1934 — May 19, 2026
Oletha Pearl Wietelman, 92, of Oklahoma City, passed away on May 19, 2026. She was born on February 22, 1934, in Bennington, Oklahoma to Eargle and Willie Wilbanks. Oletha lived a long, full life grounded in love, family, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.
On October 7, 1955, Oletha married Howard Otto Wietelman, the love of her life. Their marriage was a lasting partnership built on devotion, steadiness, and deep affection.
Oletha loved praising her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a longtime member at First Baptist Church of Newcastle and watched faithfully online when her health kept her from attending in person. Oletha retired from Western Electric after nearly 25 years with the company.
Oletha had a creative spirit and a generous heart. She loved quilting, pouring her time and talent into pieces that carried her warmth and care. She was especially proud to have made quilts for two of her favorite country artists, Charley Pride and Randy Travis, whose music she adored. Her love of country music took her on yearly trips to Fan Fair in Nashville, where she made treasured memories alongside her Aunt Vivian and cousin Chris. She was also an enthusiastic softball fan (specifically OU), rarely missing a game and cheering with the same passion she brought to everything she loved.
She was a proud grandmother to Stephanie and Jared. Her grandchildren were a source of great joy, and she cherished each of them deeply. Oletha was preceded in death by her mother and father, Eargle & Willie Wilbanks, her husband Howard Wietelman, Daughter Beverly Birchfield, Brother Eugene Wilbanks, Sister Zerita Martin.
Oletha is survived by her daughter Paula Elliott and husband, David; Granddaughter, Stephanie Davis and her husband Gary; Grandson Jared Elliott and his wife Dee; as well many loving extended family members.
