Patricia Ann Floyd
August 24, 1936 ~ January 11, 2024
Patricia Ann Floyd, fondly known as "Pat" by her family and friends, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City.
The daughter of Ethel Mae (Skaggs) and James Irvin Riley, she was born August 24, 1936 in Elmore City, Oklahoma. Pat grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1954.
During high school, Pat worked part time at Green's in Downtown Oklahoma City and after graduation, she worked for 8 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone as a Typist. She quit working in order to be a full-time mother and homemaker, which was the "job" she loved most. Her family meant the world to her.
On June 1, 1956 she married Kenneth Wayne Floyd, who was the man she loved for the rest of her life. Her brother Jimmy was the one who introduced her to Kenneth. She took care of Kenneth for several years as his health declined before he passed away on June 8, 2015.
On April 3, 1998, Pat became a grandmother. Her only grandchild Dorria Ann was loved and was very special to her. Dorri later named Pat her "Nana." Of course, she didn't spoil her at all. On December 29, 2018, she gained a grandson when Dorri married Sean David Jackson. From that time on he was part of her family.
Together, Pat and Kenneth shared more than 59 years of marriage with a deep love and devotion to one another before his passing on June 8, 2015. In addition to being a loving wife, devoted mother to her two sons, and a doting grandmother, she was a good cook. I guess you could say that cooking was her "love language." She spoiled her boys by cooking their favorite foods for them. Pat also loved to watch sports on TV. Her favorite pastime was watching the Oklahoma City Thunder and her OU Football team.
Pat was very involved with The Oklahoma Opry, where she served for many years in different capacities. She was Vice President from 1987-89, President in 1990, and Vice President from 1991-1999. She was inducted into The Oklahoma Opry Hall of Fame in 1999. The plaque presented to her read, "In Recognition and Extreme Appreciation of your Loyalty, Leadership and Devotion to the Oklahoma Opry Association…"
She always made the best of the moments she spent with the people she loved. Throughout her life, Pat remained constant in her devotion to her family.
She will be forever missed, and will remain in the hearts of the ones whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her: parents, James Irvin & Ethel Mae Riley; Husband, Kenneth Floyd and Infant Daughter, Cindy Ann Floyd.
She leaves behind her loving family: Sons, Mark Floyd, Chris Floyd and his wife Brenda; Brother, Jimmy Riley; Granddaughter, Dorria Jackson and Husband Sean David Jackson; many nephews, nieces and extended family as well as countless friends.
The family is so thankful for Integris Baptist Neuro-ICU and Integris Hospice House, who took care of Pat the last few days of her life. They were so kind and compassionate and took exceptional care of her. The family appreciated so much the way they treated Pat and the way they interacted with them.
Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the South Lakes Chapel of Vondel Smith & Sons Mortuary, 4000 S.W. 119th Street OKC, OK 73173.
