IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia
Hansen
July 3, 1935 – August 21, 2014
The family is hosting a memorial service for Patricia "Patty" Hansen at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Church of the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd. Oklahoma City, OK.
Patricia Sue Hansen, known as Patty, passed away on August 21, 2014, after a long battle with lymphoma. She was born on July 3, 1935, the daughter of Garwin and Evelyn Fleming. She graduated from Classen High School in 1953. Her father was a teacher and administrator in the Oklahoma public school system, including being principal at both Taft and Classen High. Patty attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans and completed a BS degree in education at the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She married Dave Hansen in 1957, and together, they raised their three children, Karen, Lisa, and John. She taught English at Northwest Classen High in Oklahoma City and Grandview Middle School in Phoenix and inspired a love of reading and learning in her children and among the students she assisted as a volunteer in public schools in Oregon, Illinois and Minnesota. She traveled the world with her family, in whom she instilled a sense of adventure and a deep appreciation of the beauty of different places and cultures. Along the way, she kept warm friendships from childhood, her travels, and back again after she and Dave settled back in Oklahoma 15 years ago. On a personal level, she very much enjoyed lasting friendships derived from her book club, bridge group, pillow club and the TLC Sunday school class at the Church of the Servant as well as being an avid supporter of the Sooners and the OKC Thunder. She loved her sons and daughter-in-law, Jim Kuhn, Jean-Michel Lavergne and Brenda Winter Hansen, and she delighted in the lives of her six grandchildren, Maddie, Nicole, Claire, Marc, Keagen, and Mina. She is also survived by her steadfast and loving younger brother, Kent and his wife Phyllis. Her nieces and nephews, Ashley, GK, Adrian, and JW, as well as their children will miss her deeply. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., August 28, 2014, at the Church of the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd., OKC, OK. In place of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Patty's name to the American Cancer Society at (https://donate.cancer.org/).
