IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Laverne
Self
December 10, 1956 – February 4, 2026
Patricia "Pat or Patty" Self, 69, passed away Wednesday, February 4th, 2026 at home with her family near her side.
Patty was born on December 10, 1956 in Magnum, Oklahoma to William and Georgia Halford. The family moved to OKC shortly thereafter where she was raised. As a young girl, Patty enjoyed spending time with her friends and learning baton twirling. She participated in competitions with her twirling corps and marched in many parades. Also, Girl Scouts was a big part of her young life; with her mother as her scout leader for many memorable years. In school, she played the clarinet and was a baton twirling majorette for her High School Band…GO JETS!!! Patty graduated from Western Heights High School in 1975
In 1982 Patty was blessed with her daughter, Avery. Patty was a loving mother and always made sure her family was taken care of. Patty worked hard to support her family and also made sure she was able to spend time making memories with her loved ones. Patty worked for Santa Fe Railroad in the early 1980s. One of her duties was inspecting GM vehicles that were transported via Railroad. She had a friend that worked for GM and Patty would eventually meet her husband Freddie through their mutual work connection. Patty and Freddie hit it off and began spending a lot of time together. While they were dating, Patty decided to go to OCCC to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Freddie liked spending time with Patty so much that he even took some classes with her as well. The two married in Pagosa Springs, Colorado on February 4, 1993. In 1992 Patty was certified as a CODA and worked for Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation at Integris Southwest Medical Center and Integris Baptist Hospital for a combined total of over 25 years. She had a servant's heart and loved seeing the patients recover and move forward in their lives.
Throughout her life, Patty enjoyed staying active. Whether it was shopping with her children and/or grandchildren, doing aerobics/jazzercise, yoga and zumba classes with her sister Terri, motorcycle road trips with Freddie, washing her car or out gardening. Patty was always on the move. She was very proud of her flower beds, numerous flower pots and especially her hydrangeas. The same could be said about her constantly clean car. She loved and cared for her cars well.
Patty will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness, caring toward others, her humor and spunky energy. She loved to tell a good joke or story. She will be deeply missed but her legacy will live on through the lives she touched.
