IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patsy Louise
Smith
February 26, 1939 – November 14, 2024
Patsy Louise Smith, passed away with her family near her side on November 14, 2024 in Oklahoma City,
Patsy was born on February 26, 1939 in Morton, TX to her Parents Alvin and Bertha Hestand. Her family moved often for work, and she even lived in a tent at one time with a family of eight. Eventually her family settled in Oklahoma City while she was in her teens.
Patsy attended Capitol Hill High School, and during that time, she met the future love of her life, John D. Smith. John's mother invited Pat to his birthday party, and when they met, the two hit it off. While John was away serving his country, they stayed pen pals, and when he returned they reconnected. On June 11, 1955, she married John D. Smith where together they had 4 children. They have been married for 69 years. She was a faithful member of Southwest Church of Christ.
Patsy loved and enjoyed being a homemaker and playing with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In the 1970's she worked for OCU in the cafeteria. Her husband John also worked at OCU in maintenance, and they made many fond memories there with the students and working together.
Pat was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved hosting her family, cooking, spending time with them and just being in their presence. Now that she is gone she will be deeply missed but her memory will live on throughout the lives she touched.
