Obituary

Paula Ann (Diekman) Barry went home to her Lord & Savior after finishing her battle with cancer on Aug 17, 2021. Paula was born in Detroit, MI on Dec. 4, 1955 to David Edward & Lila Mae (Holmes) Diekman. After graduating from Denby High School, her family moved to Dunedin, FL. It was there she met John Barry and they got married on April 29, 1978. Shortly after getting married, his military career moved them to many different places in the US, and through two tours stationed in Germany. During this time, they had their two children: Kevin & Jenna. After being stationed in Ft. Sill, Paula started her career at Hobby Lobby as a part-time craft department associate. Through her hard work and determination, she received many accolades & praise, eventually being promoted to manager of the Lawton Hobby Lobby store. In 1998, she was promoted to District Manager over the Oklahoma City region of Hobby Lobby, where she worked until her passing. Paula was an avid sports fan, and was always cheering on her favorite sports teams, which included University of Michigan, OU, and Oklahoma City Thunder. She also loved NASCAR and was a diehard Jeff Gordon fan. Many family vacations were spent going to various NASCAR races and events. She was a huge Disney fanatic as well. Paula and John thoroughly enjoyed visiting Disney World as often as their vacation time allowed. Above all, Paula enjoyed time with her family, especially her granddaughters: Braelyn & Bexley. Time spent together, whether it was on vacation to Disney World, or low-key activities such as game nights and spending time together at their pool, was her source of joy. Even when her work schedule was hectic, Paula always made time for her family and was active in all the kids and grandkids' extracurricular activities. Paula's generosity knew no bounds, and her way of showing love was gift giving. Paula will be remembered as a loving wife and devoted mother & Grammy, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Richard Barry; and her brother-in-law, Charlie Davis.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Barry; son, Kevin Barry; daughter, Jenna Howard & husband, Jordan; granddaughters, Braelyn Barry & Bexley Howard; sister, Cheryl Davis; brother, Michael Diekman & wife, Joyce; Mother-in-law, Carolyn Danen & husband, Ray; sisters-in-law, Debra Bryan & husband, Jay, Janice Coulter & husband Mark, and Donna Fleming & husband, Mac; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
