Peggy Jean (Barnett) Williams, resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 with family by her side. Peggy was born in Ashland, Oklahoma, on October 9, 1931, to Leon T. and Willie Dell (McPhetridge) Barnett, the second of their five children. She grew up primarily in Coal County, graduating Valedictorian from Coalgate High School in 1947 at the age of 16. Peggy attended Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1954 with a degree in Office Management and Secretarial Administration. After graduating, she began her long and successful career in the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma City where she married Robert C. (Bob) Williams, Jr. on March 17, 1956. Together they raised their three children, Kimberly, Kelly and Robert.
Peggy lived a very long and full life, recently celebrating her 90th birthday with many of her family and friends in attendance. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends and hosted every Christmas Eve, many Thanksgivings and other holidays in which you could always count on her famous homemade rolls and jello salad. Over the years, she enjoyed spending time at the horse races in El Paso, TX and Ruidoso, New Mexico where Bob trained quarter horses. Her loving heart and sense of humor will be missed by many.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Bob Williams; her daughter, Kimberly Voyles; her sisters, Billie Jane Barnett and Patsy Winsor; her brother, Jim Barnett; her great grandson, Josiah Tripp Cauthen; and her brother-in-law, Ab Justice.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Kelly Jean Britton and husband Jim Bob Britton of Rogers, AR; son, Robert Clayton Williams, IV and wife Meschelle Williams of Alex, OK; son-in-law, Curtis Voyles of Oklahoma City, OK; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; sister, Robbie Justice of Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in-law Diane Barnett; brother-in-law, Charles Williams and wife Linda Williams of McLoud, OK; sister-in-law, Luan Nail and husband John Nail of Yukon, OK and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 26, 2022 in the chapel at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Pennsylvania Ave with interment to follow at Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes, 4000 SW 119th St. in Oklahoma City, OK.
