September 11, 1942 – February 5, 2024
RaSonya Sue (Colgin) Pruitt was born September 11, 1942, in Liberal, KS the daughter of
Harold Edwin and Ina Pauline (Laney) Colgin. She passed peacefully on Monday, February 5 at
the age of 81.
RaSonya moved with her family to Guymon where she graduated from Guymon High School in
1960. She earned a bachelor's degree @ Oklahoma State University and master's degree in
education from Long Island University. RaSonya married Ronald Orville Pruitt on January 30,
1965, and supported her husband's Army career for 28 years. While they lived in numerous
assignments serving around the world, she enjoyed teaching and raising their three sons.
She taught for many years in elementary schools, finally retiring after 20 years at Deer Creek
Elementary Schools in 2010. She enjoyed life to the fullest, riding in her baby blue T-bird
convertible. She will be greatly missed by the Sooner T-Bird Car Club and her Bunco friends.
She never met a stranger; meeting new friends wherever she went.
RaSonya was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harold E. Colgin, Jr. and her son,
Heath Justin Pruitt. She is survived by her husband Ron; their sons, Chad Pruitt and his wife
Amy of Cohasset, MA and Lance Pruitt of Yukon; her grandchildren, Josie Pruitt and Gavin
Pruitt.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Funeral
service will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N.
MacArthur Blvd. Interment will be 11:00 AM Monday in the Fort Sill National Cemetery.
