Ray B. Albright was born July 25, 1933 in Murray County Oklahoma just outside of Sulphur in the farm home of Tom C. Albright and Bessie Alice Jayne – Albright. He passed away in his home in Oklahoma City September 20, 2023 at age 90.
Growing up just outside Sulphur Oklahoma with his five brothers and two sisters, Ray worked on a dairy and row crop farm. He raised turkeys to fund college expenses, and later in life on the family homestead in Sulphur he operated a cow/calf operation. He served his country in the Navy, served his community as a Rotarian, established a long operating business, and provided for and encouraged his family.
Ray graduated from Sulphur High School in 1951 then from the University of Oklahoma in 1955 with a BS in Business where he participated in the Naval ROTC. Ray was a lifetime OU football fan.
Ray served as a commissioned Navy officer from 1955 – 1964 on board of the destroyer USS Blue DD744. He patrolled the Formosa Strait defending Taiwan from Red China.
Ray served as President of the Northwest Oklahoma City JCs in 1968, and as President of the South Oklahoma City Rotary Club in 1972, then as the Oklahoma Rotary District 575 Governor in 1982.
Ray, with his wife Wanda, established Ray Albright Steel Products Inc. in 1973. The family business is located at 1600 S May Ave in Oklahoma City, and is owned & operated by his grandchildren and their spouses.
